A közös európai értékek témában kiírt pályázati felhívás tág kereteket kínál, melyeken belül mi leginkább a kulturális és ipari örökség, a közös értékek (pl. Közép-Európa identitása, történelem és identitás, épített környezet, hétköznapok, gasztronómia) mentén szeretnénk műhelymunkát kezdeményezni.
A program során több ország vidékeit, városait szeretnénk megismeri – hogy a téma iránt érdeklődő szervezetek tagjaival az utazások alkalmával műhelybeszélgetések keretében tárhassuk fel a közép-európaiság különböző aspektusait. A műhelybeszélgetések eredményeként születő esszék, tanulmányok publikálására az ÁTJÁRÓ folyóirat II. és III. számában és az ÁTJÁRÓ blogon (http://atjarofolyoirat.blogspot.hu) kerül sor. A projekt keretében mindezek mellett tematikus fotózásra és kiállítások szervezésére, az ismerkedés, vizsgálódás és hálózatosodás több módjára nyílik majd lehetőség.

The North-Eastern Passage Association is applying for the call for proposals of the EACEA’s Europe For Citizens Programme, of which 2nd Action (Active Civil Society in Europe) and 3rd Measure (Projects initiated by civil organizations) supports various forms of international actions related to common European values. Our organization is focusing on the Central-European cultural and industrial heritage within the frameworks of the programme, and initiating international workshops related to the following topics: identity and history, architecture and built environment, everyday life and gastronomy of the region.
We are planning to visit several countries, regions and cities during the project, in order to organise joint workshops for researching and exploring different aspects of Central-Europeanness together with the members of the civil organizations, that are interested in the above mentioned topics. Outputs of these workshops (essays and studies) will be published in the blog (http://atjarofolyoirat.blogspot.hu) and the 2nd and 3rd issues of the printed journal ‘The Passage’ of the Association. Furthermore the project offers additional possibilities for joint activities like thematic photography and film making, exhibition organisation, researching, networking, relationship building and making friendships.

Közép-Európa identitása?!
Jó napot kívánok, ez itt már, vagy ez itt még Közép-Európa? Létezik manapság, vagy létezett valaha és ha igen, mikor és milyen megnyilvánulási formákkal a közép-európai identitás? Valzer és polka, csárdás és mazurka? Pálinka meg cujka, sör és Tokaji? Csupa-csupa kérdés… Nekünk, 21. századi európai polgároknak kötelességünk megkísérelni válaszokat keresni, vagy ha nem megy, kitalálni azt, hogy bír-e jelentéssel ez a földrajzi, politikai, kulturális fogalom: Közép-Európa! A latin, német, és orosz nyelv szupremáciájának megszűntével maradtak-e olyan kulturális, mentális, vagy egyéb elemek, amelyek a közép-európai identitást a puszta nosztalgiánál élőbb azonossági komponenssé teszik? Törekvésünk a kérdések megfogalmazásán túl, hogy felmutassuk a különbségeknek és a hasonlóságoknak az európai hagyomány-rendszert gazdagító voltát, a konyhák, a lakótelepek és a pályaudvarok ismerős aspektusait és helyi jellegzetességeit, a kávéházak és a posztmodern plázák történelmi meghatározottságát. Trieszttől Lembergig, Brünntől Temesvárig, létezik-e harmadik ideál a nyugati kapitalizmus és a keleti despotizmus között? Saját gondolatrendszerünk kulturális beágyazottságán túli válaszokat, szellemi kalandokat csakis párbeszéd révén nyerhetünk, meg kell találnunk azokat a partnereinket, akiknek velünk együtt törekvése, hogy közösen legyünk valakik, mint a skandinávok, baltiak, mediterránok, vagy beneluxok. A határosság és közeliség ne a távolságot, gyűlöletet és az elkülönülést fokozza… Naivak vagyunk, mint John Lennon? Legalább merjük elképzelni…, lehetőleg együtt!
Central -European Identity?
Hello, excuse me! Where are we now? Is this already Europe, or are we still in Central-Europe? Are these two different? Is Central-Europe existing, or has it been existing ever? If yes, is there any so called Central-European identity? How is it manifesting itself, and how it has been changing? Are there still any cultural, mental or other elements left in this region after the end of the dominance of the latin, german and russian culture and language, that make Central-Europeanness a stronger and more living component of the personal and community identity, than the nostalgia? Is there any third ideal existing between the western capitalism and the eastern despotism? Walzer, polka, czardas, mazurka? Palinka, tsuika, beer and Tokaji? Many-many questions….
As European citizens, living in the 21st century it is our duty to try to find answers for these questions, and to explore all the different meanings, that Central-Europe, this cultural, historical and political abstraction means for us.
Therefore our intention beyond answering these questions is to reveal the familiar common phenomenons and the distinct local characteristics, the historic embeddedness and the parallel strangeness of the kitchens, the blocks of flats, the train stations, the cafés and the postmodern plazas in the region, from Triest via Lemberg, and Brno to Timişoara. By this we are intending to find and show, how the differences and similarities in this region enriched the common European Culture and Tradition.
We must step over our culturally determined horizons and ideologies, and initiate dialogues and participate in common intellectual adventures in order to find objective and relevant answers, and to achieve the above mentioned goals. Therefore we would like to find our partners whose intention is to find a common identity, like the scandinavians, the baltic and the latin nations have in Europe. It is very important for us to achieve, that neighborhood and closeness of Central-European nations do not enhance separation and hate, but do enhance and enrich the Central-European community and Europe. Are we naive like John Lennon? At least let’s dare to imagine this idea… and do it together if possible. We are looking for cooperating partners for realizing this experiment.
